Does your hot water service have a sacrificial anode? Did you know you can extend the life of your hot water tank greatly by replacing the anode every ~4 years. An anode is made of magnesium and is inserted into all storage hot water units. When the tank is filled with water an electrochemical reaction takes place where the rod is corroded before the steel of the tank. Replacing the anode every 4-5 years can double the life of you hot water service.
